Welcome to GDC Sogam

 

The GDC Sogam has been established in 2008 vide Govt. Order No: 269-HE of 2007, dated 20/12/2007 and presently college stands affiliated with University of Kashmir, Srinagar (J&K) and is also recognized under 2(f) and 12 (b) of UGC Act 1956. The college campus is spread over 108 Kanals of land having beautiful and aesthetic landscape. College is offering UG programmes in Arts, Sciences and Computer applications and in addition to that college has implemented NEP 2020 in letter and spirit as per Govt. orders. The infrastructure of the college has developed to a large extent in terms of college main block having well equipped Science Labs, Museum, Seminar hall and multiple class rooms having IFPD facilities. The college has fully automated library having KOHA LMS with LAN networking and well established browsing centre. In addition to this college library is enriched with more than 15,000 books with each collection of references, literature, careers and UPSC related material as well as curriculum related books. The college has separate Administrative block for carrying administrative routine work, Earth and Environmental Science block running the courses of Environmental Science, Geography and Geology. College has also Girls Common room, newly constructed canteen, Gym Centre as well as Sports Pavilion. The college is providing all sports facilities to both Boys and Girls in terms of Cricket, Football, Volley ball, Badminton, Basketball, Lawn Tennis, Kho-Kho etc. The college has established a well-developed Botanical garden over more than 10 Kanals of land which include more than 200 plant species of endangered, rare and important medicinal and aromatic plants. The botanical garden is being used for practical purpose for science students regarding diversity in the area.

The MISSION of the college is to impart quality education in this beautiful and remote area, to build a healthy and intellectual atmosphere and to construct a morally upright social fabric. The college is committed to promote creativity and innovation by offering congenial atmosphere leading to a harmonious development and to utilize modern technological tools in the process of teaching and learning for preparing the students to face future challenges.
