Welcome to Govt. Degree College, Kakryal, Katra

The Government Degree College Katra is affiliated to the University of Jammu, J&K, UT. The college was established in 2019 by the Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir and is at its nascent stage. At present the college is running in Panchayat Ghar, building, Dadoora. The construction work of the college building on a piece of land measuring 54 Kanals has been started. The new college building site is located in the calm, serene and picturesque Trikuta Hills at Panthal near Katra and is in its final stage of completion. Presently the college is offering Arts and Social Sciences subjects with certain subject combinations. Skill courses and Value-added courses have also been introduced under NEP.  The main aim of the GDC Katra is to help the students to build confidence and independence and to encourage them to think critically to handle the real-life situations. As per the directions of Higher Education Department, the college has implemented the NEP-2020 Policy from the 2022-2023 session. A large number of students have been enrolled. Once the new college building becomes functional at Panthal, the new streams would be introduced with a variety of subject combinations, having job prospects for benefit the student community.
