Govt. Degree College for Women, Baramulla is a premier educational institution of North Kashmir catering to the needs of female students of Baramulla and its adjoining rural areas. The college is located on national highway NH1A opposite to SBI in the main town – a place known for its serene beauty, glory, educational ethos and a blend of religious and ethnic groups living together in peace and harmony.

Presently the college offers undergraduate courses in Arts, Science, Home science (honors), Commerce (honors) and Computer Applications (honors). Various career-oriented Skill enhancement Courses, Add-on courses and Certificate courses are also taught to the students for catering their needs. The college is affiliated to the University of Kashmir and is recognized by UGC under section 12B of the UGC Act of 1956.The College stands accredited by NAAC Bangalore and is funded by the State Govt. and UGC. The faculty of the college comprises of highly qualified, dedicated and experienced teachers who are available for chiseling the raw human resource into finished and productive citizens. The academic and co-curricular activities are carried out in sync with the pre-defined academic calendar. Right from its inception, the college administration and faculty has worked hand in hand to take the institution to new heights of excellence in the field of academics and infrastructure. The college encourages its students to participate in wide range of extracurricular activities so as to unfold their hidden talents.
