The college is a prestigious college of Kashmir University and is situated on the western bank of Sindh River in the famous Chinar garden, adjacent to the Shrine of famous Sufi Saint Qamar Shah Sahib (R.A). The college formally started functioning in the year 2002, in the building of Govt. Physical College Ganderbal, but has now been shifted to the new three-storey building which was inaugurated on the 5th December 2009 by the Chief Minister Jenab Omar Abdullah Sahib. Besides, Ganderbal College caters to the educational requirements of the students coming from far-off areas viz, Sonamarg, Sonawari, Hajin, Ajas, and so on. The college is at present offering undergraduate courses in Science Stream, Arts Stream, Commerce Stream, and BCA.Â
The institution has been a hub of curriculum and co-curriculum activities and offers a variety of supporting services, viz Library, Sports opportunities, Internet facility, IT support facility, and student’s welfare schemes. The college wishes to take education to the doorsteps of even to those students who are otherwise deprived of this facility. In this direction, the college has study centers of IGNOU and distance education departments (Kashmir University) and has also approached MANUU for having their study centers for the benefit of the catchment area.
