Welcome to Govt. Degree College, Sidhra

Government Degree College Sidhra, affiliated to the University of Jammu, was established in the year 2019 by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir. While earlier functioning from Lower High School Bain Bajalta, the college shifted to its own Prefabricated Campus in 2024. Located in the midst of nature with Tawi river on the one side and Shivalik Hills on the other, the college offers a spectacular and resplendent view of nature. A co-educational college, GDC Sidhra offers Under Graduate Programs in Arts and Commerce. The college has successfully implemented NEP 2020, from 2022- 2023 session as per the guidelines of University of Jammu. The policy aims to create a new education system that prioritizes critical thinking, problem solving and creativity over rote learning. Our college is in sync with the objectives of the policy which include providing education in the mother tongue, promoting multidisciplinary education and enhancing the quality of education through use of technology. The College library, an invaluable resource hub and an intellectual haven for students, is located in the heart of academic complex and is accessible easily to all students. It is well equipped with a collection of around 3000 books comprising of Text Books, Reference Books, General Books, Literary Books, Periodicals and Journals. The College library is also subscribed to nearly all-leading Newspapers and is open on all working days during the working hours.

In a rapidly changing world, it is essential for students to be familiar with technology and be able to use it effectively. Smart classes provide an opportunity for students to learn in a technology-rich environment, preparing them for the future workforce. In order to resonate with the modern method of teaching, the college is well equipped with smart classes with internet that allow students to learn, collaborate and innovate in incredible ways, all while supporting the needs of every learner.

The College also provides ample opportunities and platforms to students for their all-round personality development, carving creative potential and preparing them to become a good citizen. Students engage with many learning communities while in the College, they connect to local and national communities through service learning, and community service. To promote physical and mental well-being of students, college actively encourages students to participate in various sports competitions at Inter-college, State, National and All India University level. The track record of our students bears testimony to this. We, at GDC Sidhra, stress collaborative learning, individual intellectual development, and respect for diverse points of view, because we believe that these activities enable graduates to be effective in a rapidly changing, interconnected world.
