Government Degree College, Marheen Tehsil Marheen, District Kathua was established in year 2019 by the Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir and affiliated to University of Jammu, Jammu. GDC Marheen is a coeducation institution with majority of students as female. At present, the college is temporarily functioning from the building of Govt. Middle School, Marheen. & the college has been provided with pre-fabricated block having facility of Browsing center, Library & Laboratory.

The college has its own sports room and Gym for the physical fitness and betterment of the students in sports so that our students can also participate and compete at the college, University and National level competitions. The first batch was comprised of 15 students, admitted in Arts streams in 2019. Since then the college has been functioning with flourishing and impeccable growth prospects. College provides ample opportunities and platforms to the students for their all-round personality development, carving creative potential and preparing them to become a good citizen. In 2022, the 102 students were admitted under NEP-2020 with various skill courses. 152 Kanal of land situated at village Ladwal, Tehsil Marheen, District Kathua has been allotted for the construction of Govt. Degree College Marheen.

Very soon, the college will be having its own building with a modern infrastructure, which will cater the need of the people living in adjoining border area especially for girls students who prefer to study in the nearby institution. With the opening of this college in the international border area, people living here will be benefitted with the option of pursuing higher studies in the nearby area.
