About

Government Degree College Kilhotran is a premier institution of higher learning in district Doda Jammu (J&K). It is an affiliated College of the University of Jammu, Jammu. It was established April 22, 2008. Initially functioning from a Higher Secondary School buildingKilhotran village, the College later shifted to the present campus in 2021. It earned recognition from the University Grant Commission (UGC) in 2011 under 12 (b) 2f). Its location is rural and is easily accessible to all areas of the tehsil Bhalessa including students of tehsil Thathri and tehsil Banjwah as well. The spatial spread of the various building of the College over some 80 Kanals of land is very meticulous which foreground its grandeur. All the departments have got optimum facilities. The College is a co-education College with regular shifts. There are 18 departments which together offer more than 20 programme justifying the academic flexibility that the College possesses. All these programmes are 100% CBCS courses.
The college accommodates an MANUU Study Centre (218) which caters to the distance education demands of the students of the district. The University of Jammu’s Distance Education Programmes in the form of UG and B.Ed are also on offer in the College.
The College has a research instrumentation/facilitation centre, a state- of- the- art auditorium, Girls’ Common Room, Gymnasium, Browsing Centre, Canteen and dispensary at its disposal. The College has been granted staff quarter and Girls hostel in 2022 by Higher Education Department.
Vision
The vision statement of the College reads: By strengthening the teaching- learning process through innovative practices, the institution will stimulate the spirit of scientific enquiry and discovery in academics.By providing state- of- the- art institutional infrastructure and excellent human resources the College will foster a better educational environment.The institution will also impart training in entrepreneurial and life skills for enhancing employability.The College embraces its role as
an intellectual, economics and cultural anchor for the region.
Mission
The College is driven to provide excellent educational opportunities that are responsive to the need of our students, and empower them to meet and exceed challenges as active participants in shaping the future of our world. The mission of the College is largely a program of augmenting the facilities that are already in place in the College and creating an atmosphere that enables inclusiveness, freewill and emboldening the social and ethical mores of the larger society. In specific terms it reads as under:
The institution shall continue to focus on creating student centric, conducive teaching-learning atmosphere all along the campus. It shall concentrate upon resolving burning national issues like unemployment, social intolerance and women rights etc. It shall assimilate and transmit the core values of equality, dignity and inclusiveness besides exhibiting honesty and transparency in all its endeavors. The institution shall pursue its motto of fulfilling the social obligations of eradication of illiteracy, poverty and other social evils through collaboration with voluntary groups and clubs. The institution also endeavors to achieve good governance through comprehensive digitization and augmenting its infrastructure to enable carrying out research programmes across disciplines.
