Welcome to Govt. Degree College, Chattru

Government Degree College Chatroo is a Higher Education institution of District Kishtwar. It was established in 2008 in Chatroo and was later shifted to Udill Gujran. The College under the able stewardship of Educationists in providing Higher Education opportunities to students in one of the most hard zone of Jammu & Kashmir UT. The college instead of all obstacles is making optimal use of available resources to keep the pace and live up to expectations of the society in general and the student community in particular. The efforts are on to bring the diversity in the courses to meet the unending demands of society which has also become inevitable after the introduction of choice base credit system (CBCS) in 2016-2017 and now National Education Policy (NEP 2020). We believe that ‘The aim of education is the knowledge, not of facts, but of values’. Keeping this view in mind, we nourish intelligence and talent and cultivate human values and skills in our students. Our teaching staffs are vibrant academicians, committed to build character of our students through curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.

The college offers four year UG programmes of B.A, under NEP 2020, implemented from the academic session 2022-23. The candidates seeking admission shall have the choice to choose major, minor, multidisciplinary amongst the History, Urdu, English, Pol Science, Education, Environmental Sciences, Persian.

The college cares for the individual development of each and every student with the aim to recognise, identify, and fostering the unique capabilities of each student, by sensitizing teachers as well as parents to promote each student’s holistic development in both academic and non-academic spheres.

We accord prime importance to the behavioural discipline, moral integrity and cognitive developments of our students. NSS, Physical Education, Career Guidance Cell and different Clubs shall offer integrated services for the multi–facetted developments of our students. 

College is trying hard to develop its infrastructure which is key for all round development of its students.
