Welcome to Govt. Degree College, Doongi
The Government Degree College, Doongi at Kallar was started in the year 2019 in the make shift building of GGHSS Sasalkote in three-four class rooms with the admission of 31 students in BA semester I under CBCS during the academic session 2019-20 supported by a passionate team of just Two staff members under the pioneering leadership of Prof. Dr. Javaid Ahmed Qazi, the college’s first Principal. The admission gradually increases in the subsequent years 2020-21, 2021-22, 2022- 23 from 31(CBCS) to 105(CBCS), 183(CBCS), 213(CBCS & NEP) respectively.
Over the years, the college has blossomed into a multidisciplinary institution, offering comprehensive undergraduate courses in Arts. During the academic session 2023-24, Enrollment in different semester I/II, III/IV (Under NEP) and V/VI (under CBCS) was 43, 50 and 37 respectively. College had a good result percentage in the past as expected. College would have fourth pass out batch during the current academic session 2024-25 i.e. in the year 2025.
College is running subjects like Hindi, Urdu, Education as a major subjects and English, Sociology, History, Geography, Economics, Dogri, EVS …. etc. as a minor subject in the arts stream only. Though, these subjects were available to the students in different subject combinations till 2023-24 under CBCS and NEP-2020 but from the academic session 2023-24, college was permitted to run only three major subjects namely Hindi, Urdu and Education under NEP 2020. However, during the current academic session 2024-25 request for the introduction of sociology as a major subject had already been initiated. Students desirous of seeking admission in semester I of FYUGP in arts at SG GDC Doongi, Rajouri are exempted from CUET.
It is pertinent to mention here that over these five years, college has also witnessed an exponential growth in extracurricular activities such as NSS unit for both boys & girls, Red Ribbon Club, Career Counseling Cell, Women Development Cell, Sports/Yoga Club, Eco Club, Innovative Club, Literary Club, Socio Club ..….etc. and all have been functioning actively to enable students to be fully prepared to face the future challenges of the world - ahead.
In Gist, College is heading towards the path of progress in every sphere of its curricular, co-curricular and extra curricular activities.
