J&K Institute of Mathematical Sciences (JKIMS) was established in the year 2013 by the Department of Higher Education, Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir as an autonomous institute of excellence for conducting quality research in mathematical sciences, in collaboration with global centers of excellence to cater to the ever amplifying demand of human resource development.

- The Institution shall focus on creating student centric and mathematics friendly atmosphere all along the campus and society.
- The institution shall continue to fulfill the obligations viz, obliteration of mathematical illitracy and fobia, besides service to common masses through its outreach programmes.
- Unabated efforts will be manifested to augument and ameliorate the infrastructure and human resource to make the institute as potiential for excellence.
