Govt. Degree College Bishnah was sanctioned vide Govt, order No.HE/Plan-H/305/06 dated 27/12/2007. It was recognised Under Section 2(F) & 12 (B) UGC Act 1956 on 17 January 2011. The College is housed in a Govt Higher Secondary school. The process of physical acquisition of land is under process. The total built up area in the college is 1440 sq feet.

College is affiliated with the University of Jammu. College follows the Academic calendar designed by the University of Jammu for all the courses. Govt Degree College Bishnah is offering twenty subjects from humanities, social sciences and natural sciences. It has introduced NEP from the academic session(2022-23).

College is located in rural Jammu serving more than 2 lakh village population. Campus is equipped with 0 5 ICT enabled classrooms, 01 classrooms with white boards, 4 science labs, 01 music lab cum classroom, 01 IQAC room, 01 staff room, 01 room for university section.
