Kreeri is the main town and business centre of the Kruhin sub region of North Kashmir. It has rich cultural heritage being under the influence of sufi Saint, scholar HZ Mir Syed Murad Bukhari who made it His abode about 600 years ago.

Students of this place used to travel more than 20kms to study in GDC Baramulla, GDC Sopore & GDC Pattan. However, due to the visionary and keen efforts of Higher Education Department, UT of jammu & Kashmir a Govt. Degree College was sanctioned for this place in 2019.

College started functioning from makeshift campus (Hostel Premises of GGHS, Kreeri) and registered its first batch of students in 2020. Government has allotted 49 kanals of land at Thindim  Kreeri to the college where construction of main campus is in progress. Simultaneously prefab huts are also coming up at the main campus site wherefrom college is likely to start functioning from next academic session.

Affiliated with UGC and University of Kashmir, College offers Bachelor of Arts Program with General English, Education, Pol. Science, Sociology, History, Urdu, Environmental Science and Physical Education as core and optional subjects in accordance with NEP 2020.
